Operatives of the Nigerian Police have arrested four more suspects over the murder of House of Representatives member for Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Temitope Olatoye.
ACP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Abuja yesterday, noted that efforts to apprehend other accomplices were in progress.
Mba said: “I can confirm that we are making steady progress in our investigation into the murder of Olatoye. We have five suspects in custody and the operation to arrest other suspects involved in the heinous crime is ongoing.
“The suspects are still in the custody of the Oyo State Police Command where they are helping the police to track down other accomplices.”
He added that the men may be transferred to Abuja next week.
Recall that the police had earlier arrested the chief whip of Oyo State House of Assembly Hon. Wasiu Olafisoye Akinmoyede in connection with the Olatoye’s murder which occurred during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections last Saturday.
Olatoye was rushed to the University College Hospital after he was shot on the head by gunmen.
He died at the Intensive Centre Unit while receiving treatment.
The deceased had contested the Oyo Central Senatorial district on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) during the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections before his death.
